Robin Hood – 20 Oct 2007

Our only recording today starts with the end of Strictly Come Dancing.

There’s a trail for Armstrong & Miller and one for Electric Proms. And another promo for Children in Need, this one featuring Ashley Walters. I’m guessing this is Hustle related.

Then we have the next episode of Robin HoodChildHood. A group of boys are playing at being Robin Hood in the forest when they come across Guy of Gisborne testing out some new arrow-proof armour. They’re spotted and three of them are captured, but one gets away.

Gisborne has an armourer working to create the new armour, which will give the Sheriff and his knights a huge advantage in their war against King Richard. He’s already getting a bit sick of the Sheriff.

The boy who escaped is found by Robin, and tells him what he saw, so they mount an attempt at a rescue, while also stealing a box of stones used to make the armour.

They rescue the boys, but Daniel, the one who escaped in the first place, is captured, and Gisborne threatens to kill him of the box isn’t returned.

Allan is still working for Gisborne. As part of the plot to rescue Daniel, he’s supposed to pretend to be a castle guard, and bring Daniel to the castle to be questioned. But he tells Gisborne the plan, then pretends to Robin that Gisborne recognised him.

So they have to exchange the box of black diamonds (I’m unclear if these are actually diamonds or just some black stones).

Once Daniel is safe with Marian, the Sheriff takes the black stones, then Gisborne comes out wearing the new armour. I’m not sure if this is supposed to look a little ridiculous, but it does.

There’s a fight, and Robin manages to win by throwing pitch over the armour and setting it alight.

Gisborne jumps into a water barrel, and Robin threatens to drown him unless the Sheriff gives them the black diamonds.

The Sheriff doesn’t care about Gisborne, but Marian threatens to kill the blacksmith if he doesn’t hand over the rocks.

Media Centre Description: When a group of boys stumbles on Gisborne’s weapons testing site, all but one is taken prisoner. Daniel raises the alarm and Robin hatches a plan, but with Gisborne protected by an indestructible suit of armour, a rescue attempt is more difficult than it might first appear. Robin must think fast if he’s to save a boy’s life and stop a vital part of the Sheriff’s war machine.

After this, there’s an update from Strictly and a trail for Leave Us Kids Alone. There’s also a different trail for Waterloo Road.

Then the recording stops with the start of National Lottery In It to Win It.
