Day: December 7, 2023

Doctor Who – Weakest Link: Dr Who Special – Peep Show – Star Trek – 30 Mar 2007

Today’s quite a packed day, so it’s good that a few of these are repeats.

The first recording starts as BBC Three starts up. There’s a trail for How Young Can I Get? Then a short burst of news with 60 Seconds.

There’s a trail for the sketch show Rush Hour featuring Frankie Boyle.

Then, a timely repeat for Doctor WhoThe Runaway Bride. Is it really three months since I looked at it? Actually no, it’s just over a month, because of all the days I don’t have anything to blog.

Media Centre Description: Christmas special. The Doctor finds himself with a new companion, Donna – but she’s late for her wedding. As the Tardis races to get to the church on time, the mysterious Empress joins the chase, and it becomes clear that Donna is the key to an ancient alien plan to destroy the Earth.

After this, naturally, there’s a trail for the new series of Doctor Who – one day away! There’s also a repeat of the trail for How Young Can I Get? and

more 60 Seconds news. Then the recording finishes with the start of Freaky Eaters: Addicted to Crisps.

The next recording starts with the end of Eastenders.

There is a short trail for Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. The same trail for Rush Hour we just saw.

Then there’s a variant of the Doctor Who trailer that we haven’t seen yet, with slightly different opening dialogue.

Then, a piece of fun. It’s Weakest Link: Dr Who Special. Even the shots from the green room at the start are adorable.

As you would hope, it’s introduced by the Anne Droid.

But Anne Robinson isn’t going to be replaced by AI.

The contestants are John Barrowman.

Noel Clarke.

Tracy-Ann Oberman.

David Tennant.

Andrew Hayden-Smith.

Camille Coduri.

Nick Briggs.

Claire Rushbrook.

and K9.

Media Centre Description: Anne Robinson presents a special Dr Who-themed edition of the quick-fire general knowledge quiz. David Tennant, John Barrowman, Camille Coduri, Noel Clarke, K9 and Tracy-Anne Oberman battle it out for intergalactic supremacy.

After this, there’s a trail for Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and My Family.

There’s also a trail for CBeebies we’ve seen before.

Then the recording stops after a few minutes of The Vicar of Dibley.

The next recording is a repeat of an episode of Peep Show. It’s actually the fourth different recording I have of this episode. I wasn’t trying very hard curating these episodes. So I have looked at this one before. Over a year ago, in recording chronology, if not in blog time. Still, it’s an excuse to include a picture of Geoff McGivern.

Media Centre Description: Comedy series about two socially dysfunctional losers who share a south London flat. Mark is worried that he and Sophie are drifting apart, so he decides he must propose. Ever the romantic, he takes her on a mini-break to the Quantock Hills in Somerset, but their weekend goes very badly. Meanwhile, Jeremy travels up to the same hotel with Super Hans, who is planning to use the weekend to go cold turkey.

The next recording starts with the end of an episode of Taken.

There’s another trail for Louis Theroux and The Most Hated Family in America and a trail for Any Dream Will Do.

Then, another episode of Star TrekI, Mudd which I have looked at before on two of my tapes.

Media Centre Description: Classic sci-fi drama series. When the Enterprise is hijacked by a highly sophisticated android and taken to an uncharted planet, it seems the most incorrigible old rogue in the universe, Harry Mudd, is behind it all. But will Kirk and his crew want to escape when they discover 2,000 beautiful replicants programmed to grant every wish?

This cuts out during the end titles, and the next recording starts there.

There’s yet another trail for Louis Theroux and The Most Hated Family in America and for Neneh and Andi Dish It Up and Sweet Baby James. Keeping with the food theme, there’s also a short trail for Great British Menu.

Then another Star Trek episode – Metamorphosis which, yes, I have already looked at on two tapes.

Media Centre Description: Classic sci-fi series. The shuttlecraft carrying Kirk, Spock and a critically ill Federation Commissioner is held on a planet by a mysterious force.

Time for one more trailer for Louis Theroux and The Most Hated Family in America, and Neneh and Andi Dish It Up and Sweet Baby James. They don’t have a large selection of possible trails, do they?

But we do get a few minutes of Pages from Ceefax.
