Just the one thing on this tape, Hot Shots, a bit late-vintage comedy from the Airplane people – well, one of them. There’s plenty of stupid visual jokes, but this one really leaves me quite cold. Perhaps because of Charlie Sheen’s subsequent trajectory.
The cast’s fine, particularly Cary Elwes, who seems to have forged a career as villains since The Princess Bride.
Sheen’s Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer is another pilot.
Valeria Golino plays the Kelly McGillis part.
Lloyd Bridges, returning from Airplane.
I did like some of the gags, like this Fabulous Baker Boys spoof.
But on the whole, I didn’t laugh much.
After this, recording continues with some of Karate Cop, a Cynthia Rothrock martial arts actioner. The tape ends during this.
