Moonlighting – tape 371

Before our regular sojourn with the post-modern denizens of the Blue Moon Detective Agency, we get the end of an episode of Ronnie Barker’s fairly forgotten sitcom Clarence where the joke is that he can’t see properly. Like Mr Magoo. Probably wouldn’t get commissioned today due to insensitivity to the partially sighted, but those were different times. Times when we all hated the weak and the different.

There’s also a trailer for a brand new sit-com called Red Dwarf.

The first episode of Moonlighting is Cool Hand Dave part 2.

BBC Genome: BBC Two – 8th February 1988 – 21:30

Before the second episode, we’ve got the end of the first Red Dwarf episode, and a trailer for All on a Mardi Gras Day.

Then, the Moonlighting episode Father Knows Last.

BBC Genome: BBC Two – 15th February 1988 – 21:30

There’s another snatch of Red Dwarf before the third episode, then a lovely trailer for A Very Peculiar Practice where Peter Davison and Steven Daker welcomes students to a new academic year at Lowlands University.

The third episode is Los Dos Dipestos.

BBC Genome: BBC Two – 22nd February 1988 – 21:30

Following the third episode the recording continues into an episode of Split Screen, described as a ‘public access’ show, which presents two opposing views on a controversial subject. In this edition, it’s a Vice Squad officer pitted against a prostitute. The whole programme is recorded here.

Following this, there’s the start of an episode of Newsnight. The tape runs out during the episode.
