Charlie and Lola – SMart – 26 Nov 2007

The first recording today is Charlie and LolaI Really Absolutely Must Have Glasses. Lola is going to have her eyes tested, but doesn’t think she needs glasses because her eyes can see everything. Charlie explains how they can test that she’s seeing colours properly.

At school she meets a girl with glasses. “You do fun tests.” “With dots and spots and things?” “Yes. Then, cos the optician lady said I needed glasses, I got to choose from all sorts of shapes, colours and sizes. And these flowery ones were definitely the best.”

“Oh, dear… I cannot see that pink biscuit, on that plate, in front of your cup. I MUST need glasses!”

“Lola! The glasses have their very own box.”

They imagine what it’s like trying on lots of different kinds of glasses.

Sadly… “The eye tester lady said I absolutely do not need glasses.”

So Charlie helps Lola make her own glasses.

Media Centre Description: Children’s animation. Charlie loves his little sister Lola, even if at times she can be exasperating. Lola refuses to have her eyes tested at the optician’s. She has tested them herself, “and they are really very clever”. Until, that is, Mini Reader appears at school with the most beautiful pair of glasses Lola has ever seen. Now, Lola can’t wait to have her eyes tested because she “absolutely does need glasses”.

Then, another episode of SMart. This is one I looked at way back from November 2005.

Media Centre Description: Children’s art magazine with Mark Speight and Kirsten O’Brien. A group of viewers stage their very own public art exhibition. Mark has some sneaky art tricks up his sleeve. And Morph is back with more animated adventures.
