Prehistoric Park – 03 Sept 2006

Today, it’s the last episode of Prehistoric Park. Nigel is travelling 75 million years back to find a Deinosuchus, a giant alligator. But he first encounters some parasaurolophus.

They’re fairly harmless, but he also encounters two Albertosaurus.

The two sabretooths have had cubs, so we’ve missed an episode.

Nigel has brought along a microlight.

From it he spots something very big.

On the water, he has a very close encounter with a Deinosuchus.

When a group of Albertosaurus are being stalked by a Deinonichus, Nigel says “this is terrifying. Let’s hide down by this bush.” I don’t think he’s really thought this through.

He gets even more reckless as he tries to attract the Deinosuchus using himself as bait.

Nigel traps the Deinosuchus, and hope that he can lure it to the time portal.

Amazingly, it works.

Bob the Park Keeper has an unexpected passenger when he takes Nigel’s jeep.

The titanosaurs are causing havoc.

Even the T-Rex escapes.

The T-Rex has separated a baby elephant from the rest of the herd, until the lonely mammoth comes to their rescue. This is exciting stuff.

Nigel lures the T-Rex away.

Lucky the Deinosuchus distracts the T-Rex

As a result of her bravery, Martha the Mammoth has become accepted by the elephants.

This is genuinely great fun. It takes itself just seriously enough, without losing a sense of fun.

Media Centre Description: Wildlife adventurer Nigel Marven journeys through time into the past, on a quest to rescue dinosaurs from extinction. In this final episode, Nigel goes back 75 million years to prehistoric Texas to try and rescue a Deinosuchus – the largest crocodile ever to have lived. On his arrival he narrowly escapes being eaten by two Albertosaurus – the top predators of their era. Back at Prehistoric Park, Suzanne the vet is worried about the mammoth, Martha, who is not doing well.
