Doctor Who Confidential – 09 Aug 2006

Today it’s another cut down Doctor Who ConfidentialWhy on Earth? Russell T Davies explains that the danger with Doctor Who, because it can go literally anywhere, is keeping a link to the audience could be a problem, so returning to Earth and the present day helps root the series for the audience. Plus “It’s funny as as a cast and crew, it’s like every time we come back to a Jackie and Mickey ep, there’s a bit of a buzz actually. We like getting them back in.”

Noel Clarke: “I think they kept coming back because it it was to show how it affected her mother and her boyfriend.”

Christopher Eccleston: The Doctor doesn’t do domestic.

Will Cohen talks about the Slitheen ziphead effects.

We meet performer Alan Ruscoe who plays a Slitheen.

As does Elizabeth Fost.

Annette Badland is enjoying all the farting.

We get to see a little of how the crashing spaceship was created. I’m not familiar enough with 3D software to know what this package is. Something like Maya?

Compositor David Bowman explains how he put together the shot of the ship landing in the Thames.

Here’s more of the episode than I have here.
