Courtesy of Channel 4 Nighttime, here’s Volker Schlondorff’s very strange movie The Tin Drum. “A disturbing look at twentieth century German history through the relentless gaze of a little boy who refuses to grow up.”
Featuring french crooner Charles Aznavour, and with a score by Maurice Jarre, the main thing I remember is the remarkable central performance from David Bennent. The only other thing I remember him is is the Ridley Scott/Tom Cruise fantasy movie Legend. He could have been a huge star.
Following the movie, a little extra programme – Bob Godfrey’s saucy cartoon Kama Sutra Rides Again.
After this, there’s a trailer for Japan Season on Channel 4.
Then, Channel 4 closes down.
