Buffy The Vampire Slayer – Angel – tape 2844

Apologies for the random ordering if these episodes. It’s literally the order they came out of the boxes to be digitized, and for a lot of these later Buffy tapes, I hadn’t even catalogued them at the time they were recorded so I didn’t know which episodes were on them.

So we’re skipping back to the middle of Season Six. Willow is deep into her magic addiction, and caused a car accident that injured Dawn, so Buffy and Dawn are de-magicking the house. Buffy is regretting hooking up with Spike, but Spike is still hanging around like a lovesick puppy. Then Doris Kroeger from Social Services arrived, played by LA Law’s Susan Ruttan.

The Trio have built an invisibility ray, and accidentally make Buffy invisible.

There’s some fun to be had being invisible.

Buffy puts her new powers to work tormenting Doris the Social Worker. “Kill, Doris. Kill them All.” And when she leaves, having got Doris on suspension for her strange behaviour, she’s whistling one of the songs from Conce More With Feeling which is a nice touch.

Willow finds some other things made invisible at the same time as Buffy, and one of them, a traffic cone, starts dissolving. A fate that might happen to Buffy. This invisibility thing isn’t all fun and games.

The Trio capture Willow, who has tracked them down the old fashioned way, by using computers, and they confront Buffy, intending to accelerate her dissolution – well, that’s Warren’s plan, not approved by Andrew or Jonathan. There’s an amusing fight between four invisible people in an arcade, then Buffy finally meets her nemesises.

This was a good episode, mostly a lot of fun

Next it’s AngelLullaby. Darla is in labour with hers and Angel’s baby. Holtz has captured Angel, and learns that he has a soul. Wolfram and Hart are also interested in the baby. Daniel Dae Kim is one of the lawyers there.

Lorne is remodelling Caritas, which in unfortunate when Holtz chucks a bunch of explosives through the door.

Darla can’t physically give birth, so she ends up staking herself.

Leaving the baby behind.

Before the next episode, the end of The Simpsons, then, it’s Buffy The Vampire SlayerDoublemeat Palace. Buffy has a new job.

Amy isn’t a rat any more – we haven’t seen that episode.

She’s not a very good friend to Willow, who’s going cold turkey with her magic, as she gives her some of her own. “It’s from me. 100% legal.”

Everyone at the Doublemeat Palace seems strange, especially Manny the Manager.

Buffy is beginning to suspect the secret ingredient in the Doublemeat Medly might be people.

But it turns out that they’re mostly vegetables. The missing staff are due to their most regular customer, an old woman with a giant worm growing out of her head.

Next, AngelDad. Angel is getting used to looking after his son.

Holtz is looking for minions.

Holtz meets Justine, who will become one of his acolytes.

Remember when Apple had their logo upside down on their laptop lids? It wasn’t until the early 2000s when they realized that many more people were looking at them open, on laps or desks, and when they were closed. Sony realized that in the late 90s – I think they were the first manufacturer to put the logo on so it was the right way up when the lid was open.

The tape ends after this episode.
