Star Trek – Deep Space Nine – The Simpsons – tape 2078

First on this tape, Deep Space Nine and Shakaar. Sisko is playing O’Brien at darts. O’Brien is, according to the dialogue, playing really well. Here’s his darts grouping, which leads me to think that whoever was in charge of setting up this reverse shot has never played darts, and doesn’t know the rules.

Not So Magic Darts

The Bajoran First Minister has died, and Kai Winn is up for nomination to replace him. She’s played by the wonderful Louise Fletcher, so you know she’s likely not going to be a good guy. Kira blames her for the death of someone she loved.

But Winn needs Kira’s help. A former resistance leader Shakaar has some agricultural equipment that is needed elsewhere on the planet, so she wants Kira to persuade him to give them back. But when Kira sasy Winn needs to negotiate, she tries to have Shakaar arrested, and declares Martial Law. What is it with vainglorious politicians with a propensity for gold?

The story is resolved nicely when Shakaar announces he’s going to stand in the election for first minister, and because he’s a famous and respected resistance leader, he’s far more popular than Winn.

After this, there’s a bit of the WWF Action Zone

Then, an episode of The Simpsons – Radioactive Man. Hollywood comes to Springfield to film the Radioactive Man movie. Bart wants to be Fallout Boy, but Millhouse gets the gig.

This includes one of the most quotable lines in the Simpsons. “My Eyes. The Goggles Do Nothing!”

After this, recording continues with part of an episode of Beverly Hills 90210. The tape ends during this. It’s a short tape today.
