Star Trek – Deep Space Nine – The Simpsons – tape 2079

This tape opens with an episode of Deep Space Nine in progress. It’s The Adversary. Nog is wearing his new starfleet uniform.

I like a Nog in uniform

Nog’s not the only one going up in the world. Sisko’s been promoted to Captain.

Captain Sisko

Someone on the ship is sabotaging equipment. After a ‘testing’ sequence reminiscent of The Thing, an ambassador is revealed to be a changeling.

Later in the show, they actually do a blood test scene.

Odo and the Changeling end up fighting.

Family's always embarrassing

His last words to Odo are “You’re too late. We are everywhere.”

After this, recording continues slightly with the start of WWF Action Zone, some wrestling.

Then, recording switches to an episode of The Simpsons. This one is Round Springfield, the one where Bleeding Gums Murphy dies.

Then, billed as the last episode of Deep Space Nine this season, we have Facets. Nog is trying out a shuttle simulator. He’s really keen to be a starfleet candidate.

Nog on the Shuttle

This is actually both the episode Facets and the finale The Adversary as seen above, stuck together as a feature length episode.

After this, recording continues with an episode of Renegade. It’s not a TV show I’m familiar with, but spooling through it, it appears to be about a male model who fights crime and rides a motorcycle.

Renegade

The tape ends during this.

  1. “Renegade” is about a cop set up by dirty cops for murder, who also put his girlfriend in a coma (which she never comes out). Not of one of Stephen J. Cannell’s classics, although he does play the main dirty cop.

  2. Rowdy Herrington was one of the most promising action directors in Hollywood before he made Striking Distance, but the experience was sheer hell and he was relegated to straight to video stuff a few years later, then disappeared from sight. The biggest shame about that was he has a perfect name for an action director.

    1. I once accidentally had a Rowdy Herrington marathon when I watched Road House and Striking Distance on the same day. Hadn’t intended to, and only realised after the fact.
