LA Law – tape 290

Before the first episode, the end of an episode of Fresh Fields.

Then LA Law. Leland turns down a merger offer from a big New York law firm, but the partners want to vote on it. Leland is defending a judge caught taking a bribe. Abby gets some trial experience defending an interfering grandmother. Episode is December Bribe (4L16)

In the next episode, Beef Jerky (4L17) Grace is back off Night Court, and she’s handed a case of $100,000 theft of Bull semen. Arnie represents Patricia Wettig off of thirtysomething who just wants her divorce to be done, and persuades her to let him investigate the husband. And Victor represents a family who lost their son in a road accident.

The next episode sees the first appearance of Larry Drake as Benny Stulwicz. Victor is representing him in a case. Mike is hired to litigate a product liability case by a Fortune 100 company, but it soon becomes clear they want him for how he looks and appears to a jury than for his legal skills.

Dressing Kuzak

Roxanne asks Arnie for a raise, but he won’t give her one. And Stewart asks Ann to move in with him. This episode is Becker on the Rox (4L18). According to the clock before the news, this was May 28th 1987.

After the programme, recording continues into a Party Election Broadcast by the Labour Party. It concentrates on the state of the NHS. Nice use of a cheesy synth-version of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy.

Then we have the start of News at Ten. It mostly focuses on the election, looking at attacks on Labour’s defence policy.

The recording stops after 15 minutes of the news.
