Space Precinct – Seinfeld – tape 1974

Over to Sky One for more Space Precinct. This episode: Enforcer. A punk is killed by a strange pair of aliens who say they’re protecting the neighbourhood. Check out the cool medical scanner the cops have.

I don’t think that text colour and background would pass accessibility guidelines these days.

The older alien is a creep who wants to earn protection money, and he’s using the young alien girl as his weapon because she can stop people’s hearts.

So this little girl effectively murders 5 or 6 people just so she can get home to her parents – she’s even willing to kill Brogan after he’s proved that her ‘mentor’ had been lying to her. But then he asks her to trust him, and she’s all hugs and puppies. So nobody seems to mind all those people she killed. Plus her voice is dubbed appallingly by an adult woman actor, so she’s double creepy.

Aftr this, recording continues into an episode of The Extraordinary, a credulous looking programme about paranormal events.

After a few minutes of this, recording switches to an episode of Seinfeld. This episode is The Smelly Car. A smelly valet leaves a stink in Jerry’s car that he just can’t remove.

After this, back to Space Precint. This episode: Two Against the Rock. It guest stars Stephen Greif – Space Commander Travis himself – as a hardened prisoner.

And Danny Webb plays an ‘escape artist’ called Houdini.

After this, recording continues slightly into a repeat of the pilot episode of the X Files.

Then recording switches to Seinfeld. It’s The Pilot part One. It’s casting time for Jerry and George’s pilot. Jeremy Piven does a brilliant audition for George, which he hates.

After this episode, recording switches, and we’re directly into part Two. It’s the recording of the pilot, which is interrupted by Crazy Joe Davola leaping from the audience yelling “Sic Semper Tyrannus”.

After this, recording stops, and underneath there’s a bit of The Movie Show with Richard Jobson talking to Tim Roth.

After that ends, there’s yet another recording stop, and underneath that there’s an episode of The Edge, the sketch comedy show starring Julie Brown and a pre-Friends Jennifer Aniston. It features Charlie Kaufman on the writing staff. Also, some great interstitials by Bill Plympton.

There’s a whole episode here. The tape stops shortly after this episode.
