Cybill – Father Ted – Roseanne – Rory Bremner Who Else – tape 2382

Before the first programme, a trailer for And the Beat Goes On, a period drama featuring Jenny Agutter. Then there’s a trailer for The Gaby Roslin Show.

Then, an episode of Cybill, Cybill Shepherd’s sitcom wherein she’s a struggling actress who nonetheless seems to live in a luxury house and have the lifestyle of a movie star. Not sure how that works. In this episode she’s the date for an actor at the oscars, then gets embroiled in a lot of tabloid sex scandal stories.

After the episode there’s a trailer for Karaoke, one of Dennis Potter’s last programmes, made after he died, I believe, and shown in two parts, with part one on BBC1 and part 2 on Channel 4.

There’s a trailer for Altered States, Ken Russell’s film of Paddy Chayevsky’s script, which Chayevsky then disowned.

Then, an episode of Father TedNew Jack City. Father Jack has to go to a nursing home, and his replacement is even worse.

There’s a trailer for Critters after this. Followed by a trailer for a new sitcom Life After Birth starring Paula Wilcox.

After some ads, there’s a trailer for The Waltons, and another trailer for The Gaby Roslin Show.

Then, an episode of Roseanne where the whole family visit Disneyworld. While the rest of the family enjoy the magic kingdom, Dan goes to Epcot because they serve beer there.

Yard of Ale

It’s actually little more than a long advert for Disneyworld. But it’s fun to see Darlene grudgingly embrace her inner child with Winnie the Pooh.

Afterwards, another trailer for Altered States. Also And the Beat Goes On and Critters.

Then, an episode of Rory Bremner – Who Else?. Topical comedy from Rory, John Bird and John Fortune.

After part two of this programme, recording switches to another Channel 4 programme. Aliens doing experiments in 1920s Chicago.  And a woman is 10 months pregnant, and the subject of military scrutiny. It’s Dark Skies, the alternate history UFO programme.

Dark Skies

It’s so much of an X Files rip-off that it even uses American Typewriter as its end credits font.

After this, a trailer for Melissa, starring Jennifer Ehle. Then a trailer for Mark Lamarr’s Planet Showbiz. Then, a trailer for Eurotrash. Then a trailer for a quiz show hosted by a young Tim Vine, Fluke. It looks pretty bad, to be honest.

The recording stops just as an episode of Cheers is starting.
